Pulse Diagnosis: the ancient art of reading your body’s rhythms

Pulse diagnosis, or “Nadi Pariksha,” is one of the most important diagnostic methods in Ayurvedic medicine. This ancient practice involves carefully assessing the pulse to identify imbalances in the body’s fundamental energies.

I had the privilege of studying with Dr. Vasant Ladd in July 2019 at the Ayurvedic Institute with a pulse certification.

Ayurvedic Pulse assessment: how it works

During your consultation, I will carefully palpate your radial pulse at the wrist, listening to the distinct messages from each dosha.

Through gentle touch, pulse diagnosis allows me to detect imbalances in the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). This assessment method evaluates not just the rate of your pulse, but its depth, rhythm, volume, and quality across different positions—each revealing vital information about your unique constitution and current state of health.
